Godalming Museum reopens on Tuesday 1 Feb 2022 at 10am.  The Museum will reopen with a fascinating exhibition Memento Mori, prepared by Godalming Joint Burial Committee. The exhibition first shown in April 2014 explores how burials moved from overcrowded churchyards to garden cemeteries. Along the way it illustrates the importance of Victorian reformers, who campaigned to protect the exploited labouring poor, so often ruined by seeking to provide ‘a good funeral’ for their dead relatives.
