Witley is a small quiet station with plenty of parking. Carefully head out of Witley station down the short no entry lane and straight ahead at the junction to New Road. Carefully cross the busy Petworth Road and follow the signs to Hambledon village. Turn right towards the Cricket Green and pass the Village Stores on the left hand side. It may be too early for cake, but you never know. Past the green turn sharp left and enjoy discovering Vann Lane as it loops through agricultural buildings. Continue sharp left on Vann Lane at the junction of Roundals Lane. The Lane continues slightly uphill through woods, and then bends right. Continue and look out for the historic Vann House on the left hand side, and enjoy the dappled lanes and woodlands as you cross a small stream. After a small climb, turn right on Vann Lane to Chiddingfold.

Look out for the turning to White Beech Lane on the left hand side and follow the sign to Cranleigh on the Surrey Cycleway.

Pass through more woods and continue past White Beech Farm and over another stream. Turn right on High Street Green signposted Chiddingfold and Haslemere. Look out for a dramatic wooden sculpture at The Dairy on the left hand side. The road rolls on with beautiful views, passing Forestry Commission Botany Bay on the left hand side. When you finally reach the junction, turn right onto Pickhurst Road. After about 10 minutes you will roll into Chiddingfold Green. Bear left and you will find Elliot’s Coffee Shop on the left hand side, or 14th Century The Crown Inn pub.

Cross the Petworth Road again on to Coxcombe Lane past St Mary’s Church. Take the next main turn on to Ridgley Road past houses until the road opens up at the junction turn left on to Combe Lane. Look out for the impressive gates of Combe Court on the left hand side. Combe Lane will take you back into Witley where you can turn left back into the station.
