A short walk from the station and you’ll soon be in the heart of this historic market town.

An ancient market and coaching town on the picturesque River Wey where cattle still graze the waterside meadows. Explore its independent shops, historic architecture, the iconic Pink Pepperpot formerly the Old Town Hall and picturesque Church Street. With a wide range of shops and hostelries you’ll receive a warm welcome in Godalming.

Godalming came to world attention in September 1881, when it became the first town in the world to have installed a public electricity supply, powered by a waterwheel on the River Wey.

Fun fact! In February 2006 Godalming station was renamed “Shere” for three days while filming took place for The Holiday, starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and Kate Winslet. Spot the Star Pub in Church Street which appears in the film!
